Covid Policies
As of January 9, 2024
Mask & Rapid Test Policy
TPCDC may require KN95 (or equivalent) masks and/or rapid testing for staff and children if:
- The local CDC COVID-19 hospital admission level is "high.
- Outbreak levels are reached in individual classrooms. (A decision to require a group to mask and/or test will be determined based on the ability of affected children to mask and/or test and the number of cases per classroom.)
Recent Covid Exposure?
If an individual, regardless of vaccination status, has been exposed to COVID either at home or at school, we ask you to:
- Monitor for symptoms. If symptoms develop, take a rapid test. If negative, continue to test daily if symptoms continue.
- Notify TPCDC If a child is exposed outside of school so teachers can help monitor the child for symptoms.
- Wear a KN95 mask (or the equivalent). Wearing a mask is recommended for 10 days after exposure.
Positive for Covid and Capable of Correct & Consistent Masking?
(Return no earlier than Day 6 with no symptoms)
If an individual, regardless of their vaccination status, contracts COVID and is at least 5 years old and is capable of correct and consistent masking (as determined by the director), they may return to TPCDC after following these steps:
- Isolate for at least 5 days. (Symptoms or positive test results occur on Day Zero.)
- Monitor symptoms.
- Return to TPCDC no earlier than Day 6 after at least 24 hours of no symptoms (without medication). A negative rapid/at-home antigen test is a good indicator of the individual’s readiness to return, but is not required so long as symptoms are gone and the individual is able to be vigilant in their mask-wearing.
- Wear a well-fitting KN95 (or equivalent) mask at ALL times when around other people for 5 more days after return (Days 6-10). This means no eating, drinking, sleeping, or removing of their mask around others.
Positive for Covid and Not Capable of Correct & Consistent Masking or a Child in the Teddy Bears, Munchkins, or Rainbows Classroom?
(Return no earlier than Day 6 with a negative rapid test)
- Isolate for at least 5 days. (Symptoms or positive test results occur on Day Zero.)
- Monitor symptoms.
- Test with a rapid/at-home antigen test on Day 5 or the morning of Day 6 if the child has had no symptoms for 24 hours (without medication).
- Return to TPCDC on Day 6, if Day 5 and/or Day 6 rapid tests are negative and the child remains symptom-free (without medication).
- If Day 5 or 6 rapid tests are positive, continue to take a rapid test every day until the child has a negative rapid test to return.
